About a year ago, we got a call from a firm that does marketing demos inside grocery stores.
They needed a custom carrying case for their 6′ table and all the accompanying marketing materials. Working together, we designed a case to fit their needs.
Specifically, they needed:
The ability to carry a big table easily.
The ability to store their marketing materials
The ability to look professional, and make set-up a piece of cake!
We decided on a strong material like nylon, added some padding to protect it’s contents, and then based on their demonstrations, designed extra pockets to hold all their materials. We also added an adjustable shoulder strap, so it would be comfortable to carry by a 5′ woman, or a 6′ man.
Above is a pic of what resulted. The firm finally had a solution to carry their tables easily, reduce set-up time by carrying everything at once, and look as slick and professional as the products they were trying to sell.

LA International Textile happens twice a year; in the Spring and Fall. This is a trade show in Los Angeles where you can find all types of fabrics.

This year was surprisingly good for Gary Manufacturing.
I say surprisingly because the economy in 2009 has been tough on most manufacturers. We continued a great year with our existing clients, and found a lot of new ones! We produced a lot of chair back caps, and printed tablecloths which shows the promotional market or advertising specialty industry may be picking up again. We also refined our production on shower curtains and custom covers and custom bags.
We are looking forward to a great year in 2010 as we increase all of our product lines offering quality sewn goods, still Made In America!

Finding great fabrics is difficult as the industry is really fragmented, and many of the U.S. facilities have moved offshore to China.
But, twice a year in Los Angeles, there is a trade show you might consider attending if you are looking for fabrics or want to learn more about the industrial sewing industry. It’s called LA Textile, and we have blogged about it before because they are great source for new fabrics. This year they are partnering with Material World, which will make the show more robust, and worth a visit.
