Shower Curtain FAQs

What size is a standard shower curtain?

Shower curtains come in many standard sizes, including:

  • 36” X 72”
  • 48” X 72”
  • 70” X 72”
  • 48” X 84”
  • 70” X 96”

Extra tall shower curtains come in 84” or 96” tall, while extra wide shower curtains are often 144” wide. Gary Manufacturing produces standard and specialty sizes as well as custom-sized shower curtains.

What size shower curtain do I need?

To get the right shower curtain size, measure the shower’s width from wall to wall. We suggest adding 8” to the width for full protection. To measure the height, start from the floor and go up to the shower rod (not the ceiling, since the curtain won’t hang from there). Once you have this measurement, subtract 1.5” to adjust for curtain rings.

How do I get mold off shower curtains?

If not properly maintained, shower curtains can get moldy. Use laundry detergent, bleach, or baking soda to clean fabric shower curtains. Dish soap or baking soda can clean vinyl shower curtains. We recommend cleaning vinyl curtains with a spray like 409.

You may either hand wash the curtains or put them in the washing machine. Monthly or quarterly cleaning is recommended depending on the frequency of use. Gary Manufacturing produces antimicrobial, antibacterial commercial and industrial shower curtains that are formulated to resist mold and mildew.

How do I keep the shower curtain from blowing in?

To prevent the curtain from blowing in during showers, you can opt for heavy shower curtains or use shower curtain tamers, weights, suction cups, or magnets. Gary Manufacturing offers weights and magnets to help keep the shower curtain in place. A minimum order of 12 units is required for specialty fasteners. Often, a heavy-duty vinyl curtain will be heavy enough so that weights are not needed.

What is the difference between a shower liner and a shower curtain? Do I need a shower liner?

Shower curtains are decorative and offer additional privacy. Shower liners keep water within the shower and prevent mildew growth on the curtain or surrounding area. Curtains and liners are usually paired together in settings like hotels, hospitals, and cruise ships. Depending on your application, you may just require a single water-resistant vinyl shower curtain, or you might need both a curtain and a liner for aesthetic purposes.

When is it time to replace a shower liner?

Replace your shower liner when it no longer prevents the water from escaping or remains dirty even after cleaning.

What are breakaway shower rods?

Usually made of stainless steel, a breakaway shower rod is a spring-loaded device that releases the shower rod when a considerable downward force is applied. They are commonly used in prisons, hospitals, and rehabilitation facilities.

Tablecloth FAQs

How do I measure a table for a tablecloth?

For a rectangular table, measure the table’s length and width. If a drop length is required, multiply the desired drop length by two and add it to the length and width for the final dimensions.

To measure a round table, measure the diameter of the table with a tape measure. To add a drop length, double the desired drop height and add it to the table’s diameter.

Oval tables are measured like rectangular tables: double the desired drop length and add it to the length and width.

We are happy to walk you through this process on the phone or via email.

How do I clean a vinyl tablecloth?

Vinyl tablecloths and table covers can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth soaked in mild detergent and water.

What are the differences between vinyl, fabric, and nylon tablecloths?

Vinyl tablecloths, also known as plastic table covers, are durable, cost-effective materials that resist stains and microbial growth. At Gary Manufacturing, we offer vinyl tablecloths in three types: Concept, Supreme, and Titan.

Our fabric tablecloths can be made of poly cotton or Banox fabric, which is fire-resistant, approved for shipboard use, and machine washable.

Nylon tablecloths are flame-resistant, long-lasting, durable, and easy to clean.
